Welcome to Ella Fournier.ComElla Fournier

Ella Fournier was born in Canada and has been living in the United States since 1997.  Ella had always enjoyed sketching as a child, but it wasn’t until three years ago that she began studying with Marcel Franquelin, first taking classes in drawing, then proceeding to oil painting the following year.

With her hobby turning into a full-fledged passion,  she managed to produce over thirty drawings, primarily portraits, and five oil paintings in a two year period.  These were displayed in her first exhibition, “Many Women, Many Cultures,” at Marcel’s Art Studio in Milltown, New Jersey in May, 2004.  Portrayed in this exhibition were women of accomplishment in art and literature, and women of indigenous and foreign cultures.

In June 2004 Ella  was accepted to participate in the juried competition  at the Visual Arts Celebration in East Bruswick N.J., winning a Blue Ribbon award for Excellence for her oil painting Mi inProfile.” Also, in September 2004 she exhibited her portraits at the Montclair Open Artist Studio Tour.

Ella relocated to  Maryland in December 2004, and early in 2005 began studying traditional master techniques in still life oil painting with Baltimore artist Scott Royston.  Some of her work is currently on display in Baltimore
